Funeral services for Jeanette Eidson Newsome, 74, of Bainbridge, were held Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Morningside Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Newsome, Curtis Eidson and Randall Terry officiating.
Interment followed in Mount Plesant Baptist Church Cemetery with Aaron Bryan, Michael Webb, Matthew Newsome, Ricky Eidson, Bubba Cook and Charles Fitzgerald serving as active pallbearers.
Born Dec. 31, 1934, in Decatur County, Mrs. Newsome died on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Newsome lived most her life in Decatur County, was employed as a seamstress and was a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary VFW Post 4904. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Pelham, Ga., former member of Morningside Baptist Church in Bainbridge, and loved to read.
Mrs. Newsome was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lenwood Everette Newsome Sr.; her daughter, Wendy N. Bryan; five brothers, twin-brother Gene Eidson, Isaac Eidson, James Eidson, Junior Eidson and John Eidson; and four sisters, Betty Alday, Myra Dolan, Faye Maloy and Linda Vilene Hopkins.
Survivors include three daughters, Debra Williams of Colquitt, Ga., Teresa Jones of Norlina, N.C., and Rosa Lee Newsome of Bainbridge; two sons, Charles Newsome and Lenwood “Eddie” Newsome Jr., both of Bainbridge; a sister, Mavis Cook of Whigham, Ga.; a brother, Curtis Eidson of Paxton, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Cox-Ware Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
