The Georgia Ports Authority recently completed the installation of a new roof on one of its 15,000-square-foot warehouses at its Bainbridge Terminal.

“By increasing capacity at this facility, we will be able to further support the growth of area businesses,” said Alec Poitevint, vice-chairman of GPA board of directors, said in a news release. “The GPA’s investment in this project shows that the authority is committed to our community. It also demonstrates the GPA’s optimistic outlook for growth opportunities right here in Bainbridge.”

The Bainbridge Terminal is a 107-acre facility specializing in the handling of agricultural commodities and fertilizers and offers 93,000 square feet of storage space.

Key industries in the region include agricultural products, fertilizers, textiles/carpeting and metal fabrication organizations.

The Bainbridge Terminal also serves as a multi-modal distribution facility. It handles domestic and international bulk cargo, including oats, gypsum, wheat, corn, cotton seed, gypsum and fertilizer from Georgia, Canada, New Mexico, New Orleans and the Midwest region.

CSX Transportation provides rail service for the distribution of a vast array of cargo to destinations throughout Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Alabama.
