St. Joseph’s celebrates 50

St. Joseph’s Catholic Church celebrated the 50th anniversary at its present location on Randolph Street last Saturday with the celebration of the Holy Mass by the most Rev. J. Kevin Boland, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Savannah, and the special recognition of three parishioners who were there all 50 years.

Parishioners honored for their 50 years of service to the church were Genie Whiddon, Valerie Whiddon Bush and Sandy Atkinson.

Celebrating Mass with Bishop Boland were St. Joseph’s pastor, Father Roberto Mena; St. Joseph’s assistant pastor, Father Thadeus Searles; Father Jacek Szuster, pastor of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Thomasville and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Cairo, and Father Dennis Berry, counselor of the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity who serves St. Joseph’s.
