Jim Slack, owner of Anytime Fitness of Bainbridge recently purchased a new electric wheelchair for Johnny Washington, who may be familiar to those who drive along U.S. 27 near Bishop’s gas station on the Georgia/Florida line. Washington often makes one of his daily trips up or down U.S. 27 in his wheelchair. Slack spotted Washington on one of his many trips to Anytime Fitness from his home in Tallahassee. Slack says the biggest issue was who got to “drive” it first, Washington or his 87-year-old dad. Washington says it took getting used to the speed and, in fact, flipped it over backwards on one of his first attempts up the ramp into his house.
