Police are still searching for a Bainbridge Post Office worker who has been missing from her Grady County home for more than a week.

Priscilla Brock, 68, of 365 Peebles Still Road in Grady County was last seen at around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28.

According to Grady County Sheriff Harry Young, one of Brock’s neighbors saw her leaving her home in her vehicle, a light blue 1991 Lincoln Town Car.

Grady County law enforcement have been actively searching for Brock on the road and even utilizing a Georgia State Patrol helicopter and a private airplane to conduct the search.

Young said deputies will continue to search and all media outlets have been contacted in hopes that someone will be able to provide information as to her whereabouts. He said local citizens have also been aiding in the search for Brock.

Brock is 5-foot-11 and weighs approximately 175 pounds. She has gray hair and hazel eyes.

Mineral mine worker killed in accident

A worker at the mineral mine on Antioch Church Road in Attapulgus was killed in work-related accident Saturday evening.

Decatur County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene shortly before 10 p.m.

According to Capt. Gale Bowyer of the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, Carroll Collins—for whom an age and hometown were not immediately available—was operating a front-end loader that rolled on top of him when he walked behind it. Collins was a contracted employee working at the mine and is believed to have been living in Climax, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Young man severely burned

On Saturday afternoon, 10-year-old Alex Johnson of Decatur County was flown to a burn care center in Augusta, Ga., after experiencing severe burns on his foot and leg, according to Kevin Dowdy, operator of Live 101.9-FM.

According to Live 101.9, Johnson may have stepped on a burning plastic jug in a trash fire, which melted onto his foot and lower leg while at a family farm in Seminole County.

An emergency medical helicopter was not available, but a local physician in Donalsonville requested an acquaintance with a plane in Pensacola, Fla., fly the young boy and his mother to Augusta, Dowdy said.

Johnson’s condition was improved on Monday after undergoing surgery, according to Dowdy. The boy attends Grace Christian Academy in Bainbridge.

Drug arrests made

Several drug arrests were made by local law enforcement on Friday, May 1.

According to incident reports, shortly before 9 p.m. Friday, Trooper 1st Class Walter Landrum of the Georgia State Patrol’s Colquitt post and Bainbridge Public Safety Investigator James Dollar were patrolling in the area of West Street in Bainbridge.

The officers witnessed the driver of a car not wearing his seat belt and driving on the wrong side of the road. They conducted a traffic stop and both noted in the report smelling the odor of burnt marijuana.

The driver, Bradley Oneal Purvis, 25, of 138 Josie Drive in Bainbridge, was asked to exit the vehicle and upon searching his person, Landrum and Dollar located seven suspected bags of marijuana in his pocket.

Purvis was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, safety belt violation and DUI for drugs.

At around 4:30 p.m., Bainbridge Public Safety Investigator Frank Green and Capt. Robert Humphrey were patrolling an area between Water and Broughton streets.

According to incident reports, complaints had been received that there was high drug activity in the area.

The officers located four males standing in the area and asked for consent to search them for drugs. One of the men, Michael Lenard Wimberly, 18, of 249 Swan Wall Road in Bainbridge, admitted to having some marijuana with him. Wimberly was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.

When searching the other three men, the officers located two small bags of suspected marijuana in the pocket of Jamaine Connell Perkins, 19, of 935 MLK Jr. Drive in Bainbridge. Perkins was also found to have an outstanding probation violation warrant. He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and probation violation—the original charge being disorderly conduct.

GSP update

State Troopers from the Colquitt post of the Georgia State Patrol investigated 11 traffic crashes during the month of April in Decatur County.

Sgt. 1st Class Bryan Strickland said the traffic crashes resulted in nine injuries and zero traffic deaths.

Strickland said troopers from the post also issued 223 traffic citations in county that included 15 arrests for DUI, 40 citations for speeding, 60 seat belt violations and 29 child restraint violations. Troopers also issued 239 warnings.
