The Lady Cats march to the Region 1AAAA championship and the Elite 8 round of the State Class AAAA Tournament highlighted a very successful Bainbridge High School tennis season.

The Bearcats, while not making it to the tournament finals, also had their share of victories.

BHS tennis coach Nicki Shockley said she liked the work ethic demonstrated by both teams this season.

“Both teams put in a lot of hard work in practice and matches,” she said. “I knew our girls were very talented, but I did not know how far they could advance. Going beyond the second round was a great accomplishment.”

Senior leadership during the season was provided by Lady Cat doubles player McCall Mason and Bearcats singles player Morrell Bell.

Strong seasons were turned in by Katie Monson at number one singles, Kylie McGlincy at number two singles, Kelsey Lambert at number three singles, Caroline Rollins and Anna Wells at number one singles and Anne Reynolds and Malori Maxwell at number two doubles.

The Bearcats featured Xavier Bell at number one singles, Bobby Forrester at number two singles, Morrell Bell at number three singles, Mitchell Massengill and Scott Overman at number one singles and Chad White and Bill Holt at number two doubles.

Shockley said she couldn’t be prouder of her two teams performances this season.

“I am very proud of our girls and boys teams,” she said. “They represented our school, our community and our county well.”
