Young Hutto scientists build motors

As a culminating activity for a recent study on electricity and magnetism, pairs of students in Lori Digby’s eighth-grade physical science classes were issued wires, batteries and magnets, and then challenged to be the first in their class to build a working electric motor. Students readily accepted the challenge and competed fiercely. As successful engineers, they were then given the opportunity to be consultants for their peers who may have needed some helpful hints and advice.
