Coach Ed Pilcher’s second edition of the Bainbridge High School Bearcats will begin spring football practice Thursday, May 7, at Centennial Field.

The Bearcats return a pair of quarterbacks—senior James Hudson and junior Rohan Gaines—who saw a lot of action last season.

Returning to anchor the offensive line at center is senior Jackson Kendrick. All-Region 1AAAA performers Ben Reynolds and Wiley Griffin will be gone, but Griffin’s junior brother, Jim Griffin, who had some big blocks last season, is back.

Thomas Smiley, who had some strong runs as a junior, is back for his senior season at running back.

The Bearcats kicking game will again be in good shape with the return of junior place kicker and punter Keenan Adams.

The Bearcats leading receiver Melzie Johnson will be playing for Hutchinson Community College in Kansas next season, but junior Shawn Samuels, who has a lot of speed, does return at wide receiver. Samuels also saw action in the secondary last season.

Also back at wide receiver are seniors Justin Harris and Markieth Chrispen and juniors Derrick Stubbs and Delonte Martisttee. Junior Drew Kelley returns at tight end.

Another player being counted on to bolster the secondary is senior Jonathan Warren. He possesses some good speed and quickness.

Back along the defensive line are senior Kenny Jacobs and juniors Quatavaus Middlebrook and Bill Holt.
