Prior to Tuesday night’s scheduled Region 1AAAA game between the Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Lee County High School Trojans at Bearcat Field, which was rained out after a half inning, Bearcat senior players and Diamond Dolls were honored.

Each senior received a rose from Principal Tommie Howell and baseball coach Scott Miller, which they presented to their parents.

Jeremy Coram, senior right-handed pitcher and outfielder, was recognized with his parents, Bob and Shari Coram. He is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Future Farmers of America and the Fast Cats. He played two years of baseball and one year of basketball. After graduation, he plans to play college baseball.

Right-handed pitcher Jamey Sanders, who also plays the outfield, was honored with his parents, Donna and Rusty Sanders. He has played baseball for five years and been a member of the Future Farmers of America chapter for four years. His future plans are to attend college.

The third senior player honored was left-handed pitcher and outfielder Jonathan Sirmons, who was accompanied by his mother, Nora Sirmons. He has played baseball for five years and been a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for three years. He plans to go to college and continue playing baseball.

Diamond Dolls honored

Also honored Tuesday night were six senior Diamond Dolls and their families. They were thanked for their support of the baseball program in many needed areas. Diamond Dolls honored included the following:

Sarah Burch, daughter of Greg and Pam Burch, is a member of the National Honor Society who has been named an outstanding senior. After graduation, Miss Burch plans to go to Bainbridge College and major in nursing.

Shaquanda Carter, daughter of Learon and Lashia Carter, is the 10th- and 12th-grade student council president, and Future Teachers of America president. Miss Carter plans to attend Valdosta State University and major in early childhood education.

Kayla Cox, daughter of Derrick and Amy Cox, is a member of the National Honor Society and a Fellowship of Christian Athletes officer and Anchor Club service chairman. After graduation, Miss Cox plans to attend Georgia Tech.

Megan Ford, daughter of Kim and Kevin Ford, is a member of the marching and symphonic bands, the National Honor Society and Future Teachers of America. She was outstanding ninth sophomore and junior band member. She also won the outstanding business award as a freshman and has been named an outstanding senior. Miss Ford plans to major in music education at Troy University.

The final three honored Diamond Dolls were Kelsey Gordon, daughter of David and Alicia Gordon; Vanessa Jones, daughter of Gerald and Marie Jones, and Sydney Smith, daughter of Gene Smith and Cathy Brown, who plans to attend Valdosta State University.

Miss Gordon plans to attend Georgia Southern University and major in biology. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the band. As a junior she won the Georgia Laws of Life Essay Recognition Award.

Miss Jones participated in basketball, softball and track and was a member of the National Honor Society. She plans to attend Albany State University, major in business marketing and play softball. She is student council parliamentarian and winner of the Wendys High School Heisman Award.
