Ducky Dash chance to win money

Mother’s Day is right around the corner. If you’re looking for the perfect gift for your mom, we’ve got just what she needs.

Try your luck on a million-dollar duck and buy her a chance to win the 2009 Rubber Ducky Dash for Cash!

The Rubber Ducky Dash for Cash will launch during River Town Days on Saturday, May 9, at noon in the Flint River. At least 5,000 ducks will be dumped into the river and will navigate through a race course that ends behind the Chamber of Commerce.

The first duck to cross the finish line will win a guaranteed $5,000.

Other prizes will also be awarded for top-placing ducks.

One duck in the race even has a chance to win $1 million. A pre-determined duck will be chosen as the million-dollar duck. If the million-dollar duck comes in first or second in the race, the owner will win $1 million.

Ducks are $5 each and on sale at the following locations: Bainbridge Pharmacy, First National Bank, Park Avenue Bank, PeoplesSouth Bank, Regions Bank, Palmer Insurance, Health Products & Yogurt Too, First Port City Bank, Family Bank, Bainbridge Engraving and Awards, The Headquarters, Bryan-Hight Veterinary Hospital, The Little Brown Jug, Memorial Hospital and Manor, RX Drugs, State Farm Insurance-Billy Inlow, Georgia Power, Edward Jones-Keith Lyle, Port City Deli, The Southwest Georgia Welcome Center and the Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce.

Besides the Rubber Ducky Dash

The Rubber Ducky Dash for Cash is not the only thing happening at the Boat Basin on May 9.

There will activities for kids of all ages, with a rock climbing wall, bungee jump trampoline and mechanical bull. Kids will also have the opportunity to make their mom something at booths by Home Depot and Stone’s.

The Tallahassee Museum and the Birdsong Nature Center will both be on hand with animal booths.

River Raft Race ready to set sail

Are you ready to get out on the water?

Are you creative and daring enough to try your hand at building your own homemade raft?

Then we’ve got something for you!

After a successful inaugural year, the River Raft Race will be back at River Town Days on May 9. This year’s race is sure to be bigger and better as homemade self-propelled will race down the Flint River.

There will be two classes, commercial and non-commercial.

Great River Rummage space available

Now’s the time to reserve your space in the Great River Rummage set for Friday, May 8, and Saturday, May 9, at River Town Days.

The sale is one of the most eagerly awaited events held during River Town Days.

For $25 individuals, churches and school or civic groups can set up for a great weekending of fund-raising.
