Two Georgia Southern University students from Bainbridge were initiated into the national honor society Phi Eta Sigma. On March 8, Phi Eta Sigma initiated 317 students in a ceremony held at the Performing Arts Center on Georgia Southern’s campus. Merrie Lumpkin, majoring in pre-broadcasting, and William Salter, majoring in technology options program, of Bainbridge were both initiated. Phi Eta Sigma is a national honor society for college freshmen whose goal is to recognize and promote academic and service excellence among first-year students. To be eligible for membership, initiates had to earn a minimum grade point average of 3.6.
