Spring is also snake time!

You never know where you will find one.

A little story about a different snake—the snake that has no teeth, poison, fangs or anything for protection from his many enemies except his ability to act “bad.”

About 3 p.m. on March 17, I stopped by a Bainbridge office and a rather unusual visitor greeted me.

He was enjoying the bright sun beside the front door, and I opened it and called to the three ladies at work to come see an unusual creature that I have not seen in years.

Only about 18 inches long, very bright black and a simply gorgeous specimen of one of my favorite snakes—a pig nosed adder or spreading adder.

None of the ladies had ever seen one before and they declined my invitation when I asked if they would like to see a really good snake show.

They don’t know what they missed for this little fellow can look as ferocious as a cobra, double his size, play dead and do unbelievable acrobatics.

So much for city girls showing me ignorance is bliss.
