The Bainbridge High School bands received Superior Ratings in all captions during the Georgia Bandmasters Association State Concert Band Festival held at the Kirbo Center on March 12-13.

This marks the 24th consecutive year the bands have captured that top rating.

The concert band, under the direction of James Sewell, did an outstanding job and received high praises from the adjudicators.

The BHS Symphonic band, under the direction of Paschal Ward, performed band literature of high demand and all of the judges had very fine remarks about the bands musical performance.

The West Bainbridge Middle School Band received an overall Superior Rating and is directed by Spence Salter. The Hutto Middle School Band received both Excellent and Superior Ratings and is directed by Joy Grimsley.

“Concert band is where students really get to study their instruments and music. It is an honor for all of our students to have done so well. Our schools, administrators and superintendent help make our bands. Without their continued support and the support of our community, our students would be missing out on an invaluable portion of their overall education.”

This year’s adjudicators were John M. Long, director emeritus, Troy University Bands; Steve Mclendon, president of Alabama Music Educators Association, and Ray Smith, professor of music and jazz band director from Troy University.
