FFA members from Hutto and West Bainbridge FFA chapters competed in the South Region FFA middle school lawnmower and equipment operations and maintenance contest at the Albany Exchange Club Fair in Albany last November. From the left, Landen Bryant competed for West Bainbridge FFA, and Hunter Logue and Hunter Long competed for Hutto FFA. The purpose of this contest is to develop skills in operating lawnmowers and various pieces of equipment safely, as well as maintaining the mower and equipment in a safe and productive manner. The contestants had to answer 20 multiple choice questions and complete 10 problem-solving activities on lawnmower servicing, safe operation, care and maintenance, and drive a lawnmower through a driving course, as well as do a daily maintenance and safety check on the lawnmower.
