Bearcats beat Early 12-4

Marty Anderson and Jordan Massey combined on a three-hitter here Tuesday, hurling the Bainbridge High School Bearcats to a 12-4 victory over the Early County High School Bobcats.

Anderson, who picked up the win, went the first four and a third innings, striking out four and allowing just one hit, and Massey went the final one and two thirds, striking out four and allowing just one hit.

The Bearcats jumped out to a 3-0 first-inning lead Tuesday and never trailed. Center fielder Dee Friday opened the game with a triple and came in on an error.

Second baseman Brandon Young drew a walk, moved up on an error, and came in on a single by Drew Kelley to make it 2-0.

Kelley moved up on an error and came in on a clutch two-out single by Anderson.

The Bearcats continued their offense surge with three more in the third and two in the fourth to push the advantage out to 8-0.

In the third, center fielder Friday doubled and scored, second baseman Young singled in a run, stole a base and scored a run, and catcher Kelley walked and scored.

Second baseman Young walked, stole a base and scored the third inning’s second run on a passed ball.

The Bobcats broke into the scoring column with two runs in the top of the fourth. A hit batsman, a walk, a wild pitch and a walk produced the run.

The Bearcats concluded their scoring with single runs in the fourth and fifth and two in the sixth.

The fourth-inning run was scored by shortstop Ryan Wade, who walked and stole a base, the fifth-inning run was scored by right fielder Jeremy Coram, who singled, and the two sixth inning runs were scored by center fielder Friday, who singled, and second baseman Young, who walked.

The Bobcats’ final two runs crossed the plate in the sixth. Two errors, a pair of fielder’s choices and a single produced them.
