Math doesn’t work out

I would like to submit some words of wisdom that I recently came across. The words have been attributed to the late Dr. Adrian Pierce Rogers.

Even if he didn’t write these, the words present my thoughts on the “Economic Stimulus” exactly. Our government has no business owning banks nor taking ownership of any other segments of our business community. To do so moves us that much closer to socialism.

Isn’t anyone concerned about this?

I absolutely detest it and am very concerned that we have made such a quantum leap toward socialism. Where is my America? Where is the America that I grew up with? Where is the America that our nation’s founders established?

I submit to you that it is disappearing in the name of taking unwise actions in the name of expediency. You can truthfully call it the “Politics of Fear.”

Here are the words that express my concern.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
