Quality daddy-daughter time

If just for an evening, quality time between a father and “daddy’s little girl” was what many said Friday and Saturday’s sold-out Father-Daughter Dance was all about.

“She always enjoys these things,” said Jay Wells of his 7-year-old daughter, Caroline, who attended their third dance. “Seeing how these girls grow from year to year is just amazing.”

The Father-Daughter Dance, which is sponsored by the Bainbridge-Decatur County Council for the Arts, was spread out over two nights and was sold out each night, said Arts Council President Phyllis Lucas.

The girls and their fathers were treated to chicken fingers, pizza, peanut butter sandwiches and other treats. The fathers and their daughters had their portraits made by a professional photographer.

“We’re just trying to spend some quality time together. Just the two of us is special,” said Jamie Ard as he held his 20-month-old daughter, Madelyn.

While holding his 2-year-old daughter, Carlee, Cliff Dollar said she was getting old enough to take to the annual Valentine’s dance.

“I get to spend time, one on one with her for one evening, without her mommy,” Dollar said.
