The open tournament of the ’09 Hungry Fisherman Series is over and some 45 boats fished out. The winners were first place Brock and Stevenson of Donalsonville and Marianna with most fish 25.66, second place was Hamric and Hamric with 23.64 and big fish 7.96, third place was Richard Predmore and Shawn Neal with 23.38, they also had a 7.28 fish.

There was 22 five-fish limits taken with 143 fish weighed in—450.55 pounds of fish and only one fish died. The wind at weigh-in was 25 mph. It mite just interest you to know that two semi-truck loads of fresh whole milk will be unloaded next Friday at the Fishermen for the Hungry warehouses!

Now, as to the Big Event down on the Harrris-Chain–O-Lakes near 400 anglers showed up for that event. Pam Martin-Wells placed 23rd and Mike Prindle placed 26th on the anglers side. On the co-anglers side, Lee Boutwell placed 14th and Stephen Wells, husband of Pam, placed 23rd, all of Bainbridge.

On farther down on Okeechobee, FLW held a three-day affair with Lonnie O’Neal 28th for a three-day total of 41.12. He’s of the O’Neal family restaurants in Tallahassee, Valdosta, Brunswick, etc. I’m sure he took home a fat check.

The catfish has done good on cut bait and live bait. Some 12- to 14-pound flatheads. Pat Cutright spent just a few minutes out on the lake on Sunday and caught a huge bass.

Crappie has been active this week despite the wind and cold weather. One boat had a limit of perch taken on minnows, two limits taken at Faceville Landing, Colby Hatcher, Whigham and John Whitfield, Wisham took 39 specks on minnows, Brock Wells and Jake Jeter took 35 crappie on minnows, its been a very active weekend of fishen.
