The company that is less than four years old is expanding, with the hope of additional jobs added to its workforce of approximately 25. The 18,750-square-foot new building will be the company’s manufacturing facility, which is in addition to offices, labs, warehouses and a polymer development center presently located at the industrial park.

What’s even better is that this company is a “green” company—taking new technology that helps the environment by producing biodegradeable products, which are sold worldwide.

As economic news only seems to get worse and worse, having a home-grown company expand—both its infrastructure and its workforce—is surely welcome news.

A good hiding place

County Administrator Tom Patton told the Chamber of Commerce board recently that he has gathered up his wish list for the proposed federal infrastructure package, and one of the items is to renovate the World War II hangar at the airport.

But if the proposed federal infrastructure stimulus package is anything like the earlier bailout packages, we sure would hate to see what the end product will be and how much it will cost.

In the meantime, maybe the county could rent Citigroup some space inside the World War II hangar for the bank’s proposed $50 million corporate jet.

Keep it out of sight, out of mind while taxpayers simmer down over the $45 billion the bank group received from taxpayers while at the same time buying this plush plane.

Bet our county would get a stimulus from renting such space at the hangar. We could even rent to the Big Three automakers and a bunch of other bail-out recipients.

Might even have to expand the hangar.
