Marching Bearcats picked for honor bands

Eighteen Bainbridge High School Band students have been selected to participate in the 36th Annual Southeastern United States Concert Band Clinic and Honor Bands.

The event will be held Feb. 5, 6 and 7 on the campus of Troy University in Troy, Ala. Students from all over the southeastern states will be in attendance.

The honor bands feature instruction by internationally recognized clinicians, scholarship audition opportunities, concert band performances, along with the final honor band concerts.

Each student will receive an Honor Band Performance Medal along with an honor band shirt. This event gives the students an opportunity of exposure to young musicians from all over the South along with providing a great musical experience.

Guest conductors for the clinic include Frank Tracz of Kansas State University, Gordon Brock of the University of North Florida, and Raymond Smith of Troy University.

The Troy University Symphony Band will perform for all of the participants on Feb. 6 at 8 p.m. CST. The final honor band concerts will begin on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 5 p.m. CST.

Parents and friends are invited to attend. Admissions to these concerts are free to the public.

The Bainbridge High School students who were selected for the honor band are John Burch, Sarah Burch, Michael Fleming, Megan Ford, Sedarious Hightower, Paul Johns, Haley Hubbard, Eric Juarez, Kelsey Lambert, Kylie McGlincy, Sean Miller, Abby Davidson, Emily Ward, Sara Beth Pelham, Shannon Reaves, Tommy Valter, Timothy Wade and Anna Wells.
