Funeral services for Rowland P. Bolton, 93, of Bainbridge, Ga., who died Thursday, Jan. 1, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 3, at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Gerald A. Little officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery with Parks Bolton, Jimmy Dickinson, Peter Wilkin, John David Lane, Wilkin Lane and Tuffy Nussbaum serving as active pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 7067, Bainbridge, GA 39818.
Born October 12, 1915, in Cedartown, Ga., Mr. Bolton graduated from Cedartown High School and the University of Michigan. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and was the retired president of Callahan Insurance Agency. He was an elder of First Presbyterian Church where he taught Sunday School for more than 50 years. He was a past president of the Bainbridge Rotary Club, former director of Bainbridge Country Club, former volunteer for Boy Scouts of America, and an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Haidee Thompson Bolton.
Survivors include his son, R.P. “Buster” Bolton Jr. and his wife, Carroll, of Bainbridge, Ga.; three daughters, Haidee “Prissy” Wilkin and her husband, Lawson, of Port St. Joe, Fla., Adene “Deanie” Waldrop and her husband, Harry, of Atlanta, Ga., and Florence “Beaver” Dollar and her husband, Clifford, of Bainbridge, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Peyton Lane, Peter Lawson Wilkin Jr., Sarah Bolton, R. Parks Bolton III, James Rowland Dickinson, Sallie Waldrop and Dee Waldrop; and four great-grandchildren, John David Lane, Wilkin Lane, Hunter Dickinson and Emma Dickinson.
