A 23-19 third quarter scoring edge sent the Lady Cats to the fourth quarter with 77-36 lead. They scored 24 and held the Lady Tigers to 22 in the fourth quarter.

In their opening two tournament games, the Lady Cats bowed 47-41 to Ashford, Ala. High School on Saturday and defeated the Northview High School Lady Cougars of Dothan. Ala. 59-53 on Monday.

Burke had a game high 17 points in the Lady Cats opening tournament game with Ashford, Ala. She was followed in the Lady Cats scoring column by Bria Harris with 7, Zaikia Dawson with 5, Lashanda Middleton and T’Keyhah Thomas with 4 apiece and Vanessa Jones and Megan Bell with 2 each.

In Monday’s win over Northview, which assured them a top four finish, the Lady Cats were led again by Burke with 19. Briana Wade was also in double figures with 12.

Moon said she thinks her teams big victory over Sneads will give them momentum going into the post holiday portion of their schedule.

“Everyone stepped up and played well against Sneads,” she said. “I was particularly pleased with our defense. We switched from man to man to zone and really shut them down.”

The Lady Cats return to regular season action Saturday, Jan. 3 against the Cairo High School Syrupmakers at 6 p.m. in Cairo.
