The honoring of captain Andrea Stubbs and co-captain Anye’ Miller for outstanding leadership highlighted the Bainbridge High School junior varsity cheerleader awards banquet Dec. 16 at the school cafeteria.

Coach Kaye Hutto presented a trophy and certificate to Stubbs, the first-ever senior captain of the junior varsity squad.

In making the presentation, she praised Miss Stubbs for her strong leadership during the football season.

“Andrea Stubbs is a very helpful, beautiful, loving and humorous young lady who did a great job as squad captain,” Hutto said.

Coach Hutto, who also presented co-captain Miller with a trophy and certificate, described her as a very unique young lady who always worried about her coaches’ and teammates’ feelings.

“Anye’ Miller is a beautiful, kind and respectful young lady,” the coach said.

Honored with trophies and certificates, along with the captain and co-captain, were squad members Aesha Worthy, Alexis Flanders, and Tiandria Burke and team manager Rebecca Hutto.

Miss Burke was named the most improved squad member.

“Tiandria Burke was already good, but she worked hard on cheering, attitude and school work to become even better,” the coach said. “She is a leader, and I expect to see a lot out of her in the future.”

Each cheerleader also received a gift from the Boosters Club.

“We would like to thank the Boosters Club members, varsity coach Sheri Dunn-UIm and principal Tommie Howell for their love, help and understanding,” the coach continued.

Hutto concluded the program by thanking her fellow junior varsity coach Frances Hamilton.

“Coach Hamilton is my best friend,” she said. “She put a lot of love, dedication and hours into making our season successful. Coach Hamilton and all the young ladies on our squad have a special place in my heart and I will always love and remember them.”
