Chason, McConnell qualify for state
Sunnie Chason qualified for state in the 100-yard freestyle and Zach McConnell qualified for state in the 100-yard breaststroke, highlighting the Bainbridge High School Lady Cats and Bearcats swim team efforts Saturday at the Northside Warner High School Eagles Invitational Meet in Fort Valley.
Chason’s 100-yard freestyle winning time was 58.55 and McConnell’s 100-yard breaststroke winning time was 1:07.89.
In other competition, Chason won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:08.48, Lucas NeSmith won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:21.41 and Alex Hughes finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:10.11.
Aaron Bryan swam home second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 55.52 and the Bearcats 200-yard freestyle relay team of Hughes, Dane Culverson, NeSmith and Bryan finished third in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:45.09.
NeSmith finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:05.17. Bryan finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 25.17 and Jessica Allen finished fifth in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:14.78. Allen was also fifth in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:43.56.
Sixth places were captured by Rachael Midler with a 29.23 50-yard freestyle time and a 1:24.46 100-yard breaststroke time.
Bearcats coach Keith Midler said all of his swimmers lowered their times in Fort Valley.
