Ruth George

Funeral services for Ruth Ella George, 65, of Bainbridge, Ga., will be today, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Freewill M.B. Church in Colquitt, Ga., with the Rev. Jerome Severson officiating.

Interment will be in the church cemetery with friends and family serving as pallbearers.

Born in Miller County, Mrs. George died at a Donalsonville, Ga., nursing home. She graduated from Bethel High School in Colquitt. She eventaully moved to Bainbridge where she worked at various jobs, but her passion was arts and crafts, which she taught to the clients at Seminole Training Center. Mrs. George was a a member of the Cypress Pond Freewill Baptist Church. She was a president of the Pastor Aide Club, sang in the Morning Star Church choir and was a promoter of gospel music programs. She was a member of the Daughters of Colquitt OES, and a member of the Marie Dixon Order of the Golden Circle, No. 66. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson George Sr.

Survivors include her mother, Stella B. Jones; two sons, Wilson George Jr. of Germany and Willie George of Bainbridge, Ga.; a daughter, Sarenna Dixon of Tallahassee, Fla.; five sisters, Annie Kate McIntyre, Wilona Wade and Lavlon Roberts, all of Bainbridge, Glenda Jackson of Climax, Ga., and Sandra McCoy of Irvington, N.J.; two brothers, Jamaica Bryant of Pelham, Ga., and Cleatus Bryant of Bainbridge; a special uncle, Robert Bryant; one grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bruton Mortuary is in charge of services.
