More than 175 children got their chance to meet with Santa Claus on Saturday at the Gilbert H. Gragg Public Library in Bainbridge.

Children of all ages filled the festively decorated library meeting room, enjoying snacks and Christmas activities. At each table, kids decorated a table top Christmas tree with decorations like tinsel and ornaments. They also colored pictures of Kris Kringle which some children gave to him when he arrived to greet them. Jolly Old St. Nicholas made the rounds much like he will do on Christmas Eve, greeting each table full of children.

Afterwards, it was time for Santa to work on his list, sitting in his chair next to a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. Children waited patiently for their chance to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas this year. One young man came up with a good way to not leave out any gifts when it was his turn. Sitting on Santa’s lap, he thumbed through a toy magazine with all his favorite choices circled.

Taryn Brown, Youth Services and Community Relations librarian, said the turnout was tremendous for the five sittings that took place throughout the day.

Library staff and volunteers helped run the event, which was sponsored by First Port City Bank.
