A lighted, 30-foot tall Christmas tree topped by a 4-foot star will soon go up in Bainbridge’s Earle May Boat Basin as part of upcoming holiday celebrations.

Christmas on the River, which will replace the Candlelight Walking Tour of years past, will be held on the evening of Dec. 4. The event will feature four local church choirs and soloists singing seasonal favorites in the Performing Arts Building in the Boat Basin.

While a ceremony to light the tree will be the highlight, festive decorations, hayrides, horse and buggy rides and marshmallow toasting will also help spread holiday cheer.

Grace Church will present The Field by Night on Dec. 12. The event is a family-focused Christmas experience, featuring an outdoor Christmas village and unique indoor multimedia presentation including original drama, film and live music that perfectly fits the season. The event begins at 7 p.m. and will conclude by 8:30 p.m.

Santa will be arriving at Seminole State Park on Saturday, Dec. 13. Children will have the opportunity to talk to Santa and even have their pictures made with the big guy. The event will feature hayrides, caroling, lighting of the park’s Christmas tree, and more. The $3 park pass fee will be waived for anyone who brings a gift for a needy child.
