Events planned for International Week

Bainbridge College will celebrate International Education Week beginning Monday, Nov. 17, through Friday, Nov. 21, with special events at both its Main Campus and Blakely locations.

Activities range from belly dancing and a fashion show to student presentations and a talk by BC’s first Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence.

Activities are open to the public at no charge. Most take place in the Student Center. More details about activities are available by calling (229) 248-2560.

The Early County Site will center its activities in the Atrium on Tuesday with a fashion show of international garments after the presentation by Dr. Maria Chumovitskaya, BC’s Fulbright scholar who teaches art appreciation this semester.

The Fulbright scholar kicks off Main Campus events at 11 a.m. Monday with her presentation, “Religious Art.”

At noon BC offers the opportunity to have one’s name written in other languages, including Chinese, Russian and Hebrew.

At 11 a.m. Tuesday, the international band, Just Us, will perform. The Main Campus International Fashion Show is set for noon Wednesday followed at 1 p.m. by a belly dancing demonstration.

Four faculty members will talk about their experiences in “The Faculty Roundtable Discussion on Belize” from 12 to 2 p.m. Thursday. Then at 2 p.m. other faculty members and students will present “Passports, Visas and Immunizations: Preparing to Travel Abroad.”

Throughout the week the college offers study abroad information in the Arts and Sciences Building and special displays in the Library.

At 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday “Citizens of the World” features various BC faculty and students speaking on their international experiences. These will include presentations on China, Russia, Germany and a student singer.
