Why the confusion?

Anyone that has truly lived for God any length of time will agree with the Bible when it says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour,” 1st Peter 5:8.

We become well aware that the devil is alive; when we try to work, live or pray.

The confusion started when the people of this country quit reading God’s holy word, and parents quit teaching their children about God, and quit going to church with them, and not having a family altar of prayer at home. Living the Christian life and the man taking the oversight in the home.

The children of Israel began looking at the world desiring the things of the world, looking to man and themselves for the answers to man’s problems. We read the results of their success by going in that direction, especially morally.

Each time Israel chose that direction it ended in disaster for them.

For example, God’s promise to Solomon after the feast dedication and after the temple had been filled with the glory of God. God appeared to Solomon by night and said unto him (2 Chronicles 7:12-14,17-20, (12), “And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice (13). If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people (14); If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (17). And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe my statues and my judgments (18); Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel (19). But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them (20); Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land, which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations.”

What God is really saying here is as long as you keep and follow his commandments you will not have confusion. There is much more to God’s commandments then the 10, he gave Moses on the mount in Exodus, Chapter 20, in the books of Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy there is much more that God commanded his people to do.

When Jesus came he said, “I did not come to destroy the law but to fulfill it” (Matthew 5:17-19, (17). “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill, the next two verses” (18).

“For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled (19). Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

Jesus left no room for confusion concerning his law and commandments as he mentions them both here.

The Apostle Paul said in 1st Corinthians 14:33, “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”

When a family, nation, people or the world strays from God, God in his mercy tries to warn man in every case to return to the old paths as he did those in Jerusalem when God spoke to Jeremiah (Jeremiah 6:16 -17, (16). “Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein (17). Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.”

God set up a government in the church (Ephesians 4:11-13, 11) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers (12); For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ (13). Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

The Apostle Paul went on to say in (2nd Timothy 4:3-4, (3), “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; (4) And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

This is exactly why all the confusion is in our county and the world today.

For those who love God and are willing, stand ye in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths where in is the good way, and he will bless us for it.
