Mattie Ament

Funeral services for Mattie Lou Bynum Ament, 74, of Bainbridg, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with President Ryan Cleveland and Brother Stan Webb officiating.

Interment will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery in Dothan, Ala., with Kenneth Hull, Ken Hall, Alan Hall, Nelson Alvarez, Scott Tennant, Bud Tillman and Cody Hyler serving as active pallbearers.

Mrs. Ament was born in Dothan, Ala., and died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, in Columbus, Ga.

She moved to Decatur County 21 years ago from Delray Beach, Fla. She was former owner/operator of Palmer Fish Camp in Eufaula, Ala., and Ye Olde Lodge Restaurant in Plymouth, N.C. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was preceded in death by her husbands, George L. Palmer and Robert K. “Bob” Ament.

Survivors include two daughters, Virginia “Ginny” Tew of Manchester, N.H., and Melinda P. Hull of Columbus; three sisters, Eleanor Head and Janice Hayes, both of Brinson, Ga., and Frances Alvarez of Bainbridge; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Cox-Ware Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
