Drive-through a success

Our community’s first-ever drive-through flu shot clinic held Oct. 17 from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Decatur County Health Department was a tremendous success.

An undertaking of its scope takes time, energy and commitment that stretch far beyond the health department’s campus. Volunteers from many agencies and institutions came together as a team and pooled their expertise and resources to make the clinic happen, and they deserve recognition.

On behalf of the Decatur County Health Department, I would like to commend our partners: Bainbridge College RN and LPN programs and instructors, Decatur County Emergency Management Agency, Decatur County Emergency Medical Service, Bainbridge Public Safety, Decatur County Fire and Rescue, Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, the local chapter of the Salvation Army and the Southwest Health District Office of All Hazards Preparedness.

I would be remiss if I failed to also acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the Decatur County Health Department staff and Environmental Health Services staff.

Our community is indeed fortunate to have individuals and institutions willing to give so generously on behalf of others.

Thank you for helping make Decatur a healthier place to work, go to school and raise a family.

Sincerely,

Sherry Hutchins RNCounty Nurse ManagerDecatur County Health Department
