The Bainbridge High School homecoming queen, who will be announced and crowned at halftime of Friday night’s 7:30 p.m. homecoming football game between the Bearcats and Upson-Lee High School Knights, will reign over homecoming activities with homecoming king Melzie Johnson who has already been selected.

The homecoming parade will be Thursday at 5 p.m. It will begin in front of the Firehouse Gallery on Water Street and conclude in front of the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum on Wheat Avenue. The queen will be one of four senior attendants, Sarah Louise Wells, Davina Thomas, Kelsey Scott or Julianne Leigh Mullis.

Senior attendant Sarah Louise Wells is the 17-year-old daughter of Ken and Mary Jane Wells. She is a member of the Anchor Club, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the National Honor Society and is a senior class representative on the student council and Key Club sweetheart.

Miss Wells is a four year member of the BHS Marching Bearcat Band danceline. She attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine at Emory University. Selected to attend Girls State by the American Legion Auxiliary, Miss Wells is also on the Principals Honor Roll. After graduation, she aspires to attend Young Harris College or Georgia Southern University to pursue a career in dentistry or education.

Senior Davina Thomas is the 18-year-old daughter of David and Fayetta Thomas. She is a member of the BHS Lady Cats track team which won Region 1AAAA championships in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

A member of the basketball cheerleading squad, she received the squad’s coaches award in 2007 and most dependable in 2008. She is also a member of the Thomas University Pre-College Club and the Divine Revelation Outreach Center where she helps feed and clothe people in need.

Miss Thomas is an international model and has signed a one year contract with Model Productions Inc.

Her goal is to be America’s Next top model. After graduation she plans to attend Albany State University and major in business administration.

Senior attendant Kelsey Scott is the 17-year-old daughter Patricia King. She desires to help other people and after graduation she plans to attend Valdosta State University to study psychology. She hopes to obtain a master’s or doctorate degree and wants to be successful and give back to the community.

Senior attendant Julianne Leigh Mullis is the 17-year-old daughter of Al and Georgia Mullis. She is a drum major for the BHS Marching Bearcat Band and was on the bands danceline in previous years.

Miss Mullis sings in the BHS chorus and is a student director of the chorus. She is a member of the National Honor Society and participates on the BHS literary team. Additionally, she is a Georgia Certificate of Merit recipient and was selected to attend Girls State by the American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoys singing, playing the guitar and performing and after graduation, she plans to attend Florida State University and major in music. Her desire is to continue performing with her band in pursuit of her dream of becoming a famous singer.

Homecoming King Johnson the 18-year-old son of Melzie Johnson Sr. and Jannie Scott, a three year starter for the Bearcats football team and two year starter for the Bearcats basketball team, he has earned first team All-Region 1AAAA honors in both sports. He is a member of the Thomas University Pre-College Club. After graduation he plans to attend college and obtain a degree in the coaching field.

Junior attendants in this year’s homecoming court are Kanesha Latrice Register and Mary Anna Dozier.

Miss Register is the 16-year-old daughter of Steve Register Sr. and Janice Robinson. She is on the BHS varsity football and competition cheerleading squad and is a member of Skills USA, the Thomas University Pre-College Talent Search Club and the BHS student council.

Miss Register is a Bearcat Ambassador and a member of the Purango Yearbook Staff.

A Tiny Miss Peachtree contestants director, Miss Register is Teen Miss Southwest Georgia Peanut, the 2007 Teen Miss Grady County Hospitality winner and the 2007 Georgia Teen Miss Sunburst Queen of Queens. She enjoys cheerleading, pageantry and modeling and her aspirations are to attend Mercer University or Valdosta State University and major in pharmacology.

Junior attendant Mary Anna Dozier is the 16-year-old daughter of Jim and Natalee Dozier. She is active in the Anchor Club and the National Honor Society. She is on the Purango Yearbook staff and the BHS Marching Band danceline.

Miss Dozier is an A honor roll student who enjoys dancing with Lucretia’s School of Dance senior company and working out at the Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA. She is also a doll collector who after high school plans to attend Florida State University to pursue a degree in education.

Representing the sophomore class at this year’s homecoming are attendants Bailey Manley, 15-year-old daughter of Kevin and Rhonda Manley, TiAndria Burke, 15-year-old daughter of Grechelle Blocker and the late Charles Burke Sr.

Miss Manley is a member of the BHS Future Farmers of America Chapter where she is on the livestock judging team. She is a manager for the varsity cheerleading squad and she enjoys cheerleading and photography. Her future plans are to attend college and major in photography.

Miss Burke is vice president of the sophomore class and a member of Cats for Youth. She is a junior varsity football cheerleader and co-captain of the varsity basketball cheerleading squad. She is a member of the Thomas University Pre-College Club and the Delta Gems sponsored by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority in Quincy, Fla. Her plans after graduation are to attend Valdosta State University and major in education.

Freshman attendants in the homecoming court are Anye’ Raymonde Miller and Macy Phillips.

Miss Miller is the 14-year-old daughter of Eric Miller and Sonya Barber Norris. She is co-captain of the junior varsity cheerleading squad and she plays soccer and is a member of Talent Search.

Her hobbies include art and creative writing and after graduation she plans to pursue a doctorate in education or become a medical doctor. She also hopes to own a school of art and dance.

Miss Phillips is the 14-year-old daughter of the Rev. Stanley and April Phillips. She is active in the Future Farmers of America Chapter where she is on the livestock judging team. She is a manager of the BHS varsity cheerleading squad.

Miss Phillips future plans are to attend the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine and participate on its livestock judging team.
