Marshall Mack ran 64 yards for a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage Thursday at Centennial Field, giving the Bainbridge eighth-grade Bearcats a 6-0 lead and they went on to post an impressive 34-0 homecoming victory over the McIntyre Park Middle School eighth-grade Bulldogs from Thomasville.

The Bearcats concluded their season with a 4-2 record.

It was homecoming for West Bainbridge and Hutto middle schools.

During an afternoon pep rally at the West Bainbridge gymnasium, Isis Crawford, daughter of Michelle Green and Terry Green and a member of the school’s varsity cheerleading squad, basketball team and cross country team, was crowned homecoming queen. Allison Holt, daughter of Belinda and David Holt and captain of the school’s varsity cheerleading squad, was introduced as maid of honor.

During pregame ceremonies at Centennial Field, Brittany Murphy, daughter of Mamie Griffin and Leroy Murphy Sr., and is actively involved in Hutto’s Educational Talent Search, was crowned Miss Hutto. Karley Harris, daughter of Greg and Kelly Harris, and captain of Hutto’s varsity cheerleading squad, was introduced as Hutto’s maid of honor.

The Bearcats increased their lead to 14-0 when quarterback B.J. Cheatem ran an option off the left side for six yards and a touchdown with 7:52 left in the second quarter then threw to wide receiver Tevin McRae for the two-point conversion.

Mack ran 20 yards for a touchdown with 2:13 left in the second quarter, and Cheatem ran in for the two-point conversion giving the Bearcats a 22-0 halftime lead. With 3:19 left in the third quarter, Mack ran 20 yards for a touchdown to put the Bearcats up 28-0. Quarterback Cameron McDowell tried to run in for the two-point conversion, but was stopped short.

The Bearcats’ final touchdown of the day came on a 58-yard touchdown run by Michael Stubbs with 7:15 left in the game. James McClain tried to run in for the two-point conversion but was stopped short.

Quarterback Jake Goodson ran 60 yards for an apparent touchdown with 10.9 seconds left in the game, but it was called back for holding.
