Bainbridge High School Bearcats senior safety Jonathan Warren, a first team All-Region 1AAAA selection and member of The Albany Herald's All-Area team, signed a national football letter of intent Thursday with the Carson Newman College Eagles.

Looking on as he signed with the Jefferson City, Tenn., school were his mother, Mary Warren; his young nephew, Omar Perkins; his cousin, Tevin McKay; his aunt, Dale Smith; his uncle, Lee Bouie; his mentor, John Rollins; BHS principal Tommie Howell, BHS guidance counselor Barbara Murrah and Bearcats head football coach Ed Pilcher.

Coach Pilcher called Warren an exceptional athlete who has a chance to do well at the next level.

"When a hard-working young man like Jonahan Warren gets a free education and a chance to play football at the next level, it is always special," coach Pilcher said.

Warren tied for first in Region 1AAAA in interceptions with four, one which he returned for a touchdown and was second in the Region in tackles with 125.

He had four blocked kicks, three tackles for loss, two caused fumbles and one fumble recovery.
