Humane Society opens new pet calendar contest

One thing is certain in life. When you ring in a new year, you need a new calendar.

Last year the Bainbridge-Decatur County Humane Society ran a pet contest to raise money for construction of a new shelter. The winning animals were featured in a  special 2017 calendar, which was then sold.

The contest was a big success and a new contest has now begun to choose the animals that will go on the 2018 calendar. The contest began August 15 at 8 a.m.

To participate, register and sign in at www.gogophotocontest.com to enter your own pet or vote for another. There you will see the contest rules. Basically, you can upload a digital photo of your pet and share a brief story about it. The photo should be of the pet only – no humans. There is a $10 entry fee for each photo and votes cost $1 each.

As of Thursday this week, there were 15 entries available for voting. They range from the usual dogs and cats to a rabbit and a young donkey.

Entries and donations must be made via the online contest page. No photos or payments will be accepted at BDCHS. Payments are through a secure site and are non-refundable. All proceeds from the calendar contest go to the BDCHS building fund.

Voting ends September 15 at 5 p.m., so make your choice for “top dog” or other, and help the Humane Society build a badly needed new shelter.
