“The vehicle was going westbound on Shotwell Street [after leaving Winn Dixie],” Bainbridge Public Safety Captain Terry Pait said. “The right hand tires went off the curb and it hit the guide wire. As soon as it hit the guide wire, it did a half-circle flip.”

The guide wire was attached to a power pole and as the car ran up it, it caused the car to flip onto its roof.

“These cars are lighter than you think,” Pait said. “A lot of people think it will take a storm of some kind to flip them over. This guide wire, all it did was act like a ramp. It just went up to a certain point where the center of gravity got lost and it just flipped over.”

The passengers in the car, which included a female driver and three young girls were not injured in the crash.

“I don’t know the status whether they were buckled up, but something had to of saved them,” Pait said.
