Louis “Buster” Freeman Sr. was born on August 6, 1950 in Bainbridge,
Ga. to Lillie Mae Freeman and Tom Freeman. Louis was the fifth of 10
children born to Lillie Mae.
Louis attended school in the Decatur County educational system. He
received his high school diploma from Hutto High in 1970, graduating
with the last segregated class before integration.
While in the 9th grade, he began working for Mr. & Mrs. Jimmy Cliett
at Cliett’s Hardware. After many years of hard work, he was able to
purchase the Cliett  building from his former employer and began his
now 23 year- business venture, L & G’s Used Appliances. Louis gave
back to his community by mentoring and teaching young people about the
importance of entrepreneurship. He participated in the Bainbridge High
School Education Training and Transition (BETT) program, which catered
to graduating seniors who were seeking real world training and work
experience.
Louis loved playing pool and riding his motorcycles. He even built his
very first motorcycle, a Harley Davidson long nose chopper.
Louis grew up as a member of Nelson Chapel AME Church as a child, but
later rededicated his life to Christ and was again baptized at New
Freedom Christian Ministries. He became very active in the church and
loved to share his personal testimony about what brought him closer to
the Lord.
Louis was diagnosed with lung cancer in October of 2012 and fought a
long hard fight until the Lord called him home on July 19th, 2016. He
will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and his canine companions.
