Susan Ralph, president of the Bainbridge-Decatur County Humane Society, updated members of the Bainbridge Lions Club Wednesday on how they and other local citizens can lend their assistance to the society and their animal shelter located at 1250 Cox Avenue.

Ralph, a former librarian at the Gilbert H. Gragg Southwest Georgia Regional Library and the Bainbridge State College Library, said that after retiring she still wanted to do something to benefit Bainbridge and Decatur County.

“Some of our citizens adopt animals and give them a good home.” Ralph said. “Others volunteer to come to the shelter and walk the dogs, socialize the puppies and donate supplies needed.”

“Monetary donations are accepted to help cover the cost of spaying and neutering, heartworm treatments, shots and worming,” Ralph said. “We have a wish list on Amazon.com that will ship items directly to us. You can also become a member of the Bainbridge-Decatur County Humane Society by filling out an application that you can pick up at the shelter.”

Ralph said the Humane Society, which receives support from the city of Bainbridge and Decatur County, has an annual regular membership dues are $20. There are also a Bronze Paw Membership of $100, a Silver Paw Membership of $250, a Gold Paw membership of $500 and a Platinum membership of $1,000.

“Our three major areas of support come from membership dues, donations and fund raisers.” Ralph said in conclusion.
