Coach Chris Bryant’s Bainbridge High School junior varsity Bearcats baseball team dropped a 3-2 season ending decision to the Cairo High School junior varsity Syrupmakers Tuesday at Bearcat Diamonds.

The Bearcats took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Pitcher Dalton Harrell opened the inning with a single, stole second and came in on a single by center fielder Tristan Manley.

A double, a pair of walks and a fielder’s choice pushed across the Syrupmakers’ tying run in the top of the second.

The Syrupmakers added a run in the top of the third on a walk and two singles to go up 2-1. After a scoreless fifth inning the Bearcats scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to tie it up 2-2.

Dalton Harrell reached base on an error to start the tying rally. He then stole second and came in on a single.

After the game junior varsity head coach Bryant said he thought his team made a lot of progress during the season.

“While our record might now show it, I thought our starters got better and better as the season went on,” the junior varsity head coach said. “I am talking about pitcher Dalton Harrell, center fielder Tristan Manley, shortstop Tripp Alford, second baseman Hayden Martin, first baseman Nic Barber, catcher Bowen Dodson, third baseman Walt Burrell, left fielder Hayden Martin, extra hitters Brad Mitchell and Randy Fillingame and right fielder Deondrae Rogers.”

The JV Bearcats finished the season 5-12-1.
