Marie Dawson Harrell, 72, of Bainbridge, Ga. passed away Monday, April 11, 2016.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Bainbridge Church of God with Rev. Ryan Carnes and Rev. Phillip Kirkland officiating. Interment will follow at Corinth Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with J. W. Crumley, Mark Pollock, Waylon Day, Tim McLaughlin, Dennis Newsome, Chris Kelly, Wade Long and Dan Bryant serving as active pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com.

Marie was born September 27, 1943 in Donalsonville, Ga., the daughter of Johnnie Stephen Dawson and Ruby Brooks Dawson. She married Jesse Paul Harrell, Jr. on October 3, 1962. Marie was a member of Bainbridge Church of God.

Marie had a heart of gold and served others faithfully whether at home, the church or the bank. She loved her church where she served as the Sunday School Clerk for many years. Mr. Leon Culverson recognized Marie was a “gem” and nicknamed her Pearl. Many of her longtime customers referred to her as Pearl even after her retirement from Regions Bank. Marie was devoted to her family and enjoyed making memories especially on trips to the mountains. She considered her family to be her greatest gift and accomplishment on this earth.

Survivors include her husband, J. P. Harrell; her son, Greg Harrell and his special friend, Pauline Whitaker; her granddaughter Katie Elizabeth Harrell; her great-grandchild, Kayden Reese Harrell; and her siblings, Rev. Billy Dawson of Tifton, Ga., John Dawson and his wife, Betty, of Tallahassee, Fla., Mildred Kirkland of Madison, Fla., and Hilda Haire of Attapulgus, Ga.. Marie was preceded in death by her parents.
