Kiwanis Club holds annual River Run

Rik Pool, a Florida State University student from Winter Park, Florida and Paula O’Neil from Tallahassee, Florida were the overall and top female finishers in Saturday’s annual Bainbridge Kiwanis Club 5K River Run.

The run, which started and ended in the Earle May Boat Basin, proceeded along the banks of the Flint River.

Pool’s overall winning time was 19 minutes. O’Neal, who finished fifth overall, finished in a time of 23:51. Caleb Harris of Bainbridge finished second overall with a time of 19:21. Al Whatley and Ian Maltz were third and fourth overall with times of 20:48 and 21:56.

Behind overall female winner O’Neal in the top 10 were Andy Smith with a time of 26:31, Donald Bowling, who also finished first in the 60-69 age group, with a time of 26:50, Lindsay Stern with a time of 27:52, Jay Cain with a time of 27:53, and Rosa Martine-Vasquez with a time of 28:05.

Age group winners included Kay Cooper finished 13th overall with a time of 29:52 and was the first place finisher in the women’s 40-49 age group. Nancy Henry was the winner of women’s 60-69 age group with a time of 30:23, she finished 14th overall. Justin Ketterer won the men’s 30-39 age group with a time of 34:14, Dan Bowser won the men’s 70 and up age group with a time of 34:47.

In the 10K race Myles Gibson finished as the overall winner with a time of 37:27 he was followed by Paul Guyas who finished second with a time of 37:48. Nancy Stedman was the overall female winner in the 10K with a time of 48:31.

Nicole Touchton won the women’s 30-39 age group with a time of 56:46 and Rhonda Wells won the women’s 40-49 age group with a time of 55:41. John Hemanes won the men’s 20-29 age group with a time of 44:46, Jay Silvanima won the 50-59 age group with a time of 46:57 and Dale Nash won the 60-69 age group with a time of 50:11.
