A plane traveling from Louisiana belly-landed at the Decatur County airport around 11:39 a.m. Thursday.

The pilot and three passengers were not injured.

According to reports, the pilot of the King Air 90 tail failed to lower his landing gear prior to touchdown on the runway. The twin-engine turbine plane’s propellers struck the ground, causing the aircraft to slide on its underside off the runway for 100 yards into the grass.

Unable to maintain control, the pilot immediately shut down all power after stopping. Decatur County EMS and the Fire Department responded to the accident.

Griffin Brothers Crane Service used their crane to lift the airplane and lower the landing gear. It was moved to a local hangar where potential repairs will be made before returning the plane to Louisiana.
