Mr. William Davis Sykes, age 68, passed away early Friday, November 27, 2015, in Tallahassee, Florida.  Services for Mr. Sykes will be held at 2:30 p.m.., Wednesday, December 2, 2015, in Cox Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. John Woodrum will be officiating.  Burial will follow in West Bainbridge Cemetery.  Don Brooker, Jr., David Funderburke, Jerry Henry, John Maloy, Bill Meredith, and Homer Meredith will serve as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6-8, at Cox Funeral Home Chapel. 

William Davis Sykes was born March 29, 1947, in Bainbridge, Georgia, to William E. Sykes and Lorene Bennett Sykes.  He was a lifelong resident of Decatur County.  He worked as a meat cutter all his life; retiring from Piggly Wiggly Supermarket.

Davis was preceded in death by his wife, Linda M. Walls Sykes.  Mr. Sykes loved the outdoors.  He liked hunting and fishing.  Davis enjoyed travel.  He was an avid reader, with an appreciation for history. Mostly, he enjoyed his family.  William Sykes will be deeply missed by the family he loved so very much.

Mr. Sykes is survived by his children, William Davis Sykes, Jr. of North Dakota, Wayne Sykes of Bainbridge, and Joy A. Davis and husband, Jack of Climax, Georgia; brother, Eddie Sykes and wife, Marie of Bainbridge; grandchildren, Danielle Edwards, William Davis Sykes, III, Jordan Davis, Morgan Sykes, John Sykes, and Jared Davis.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters, Mary Frances Meredith and Brenda Phillips, and brother, Steve Sykes, Sr.
