Mrs. Betty Jane Wilkinson Mills

Betty Jane Wilkinson Mills, 91, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on the night of November 21, 2015. Betty was born in Bainbridge, Georgia on November 2, 1924 to Dr. William L. Wilkinson and Julia Chason Wilkinson. She graduated from Bainbridge High School and Wesleyan College. Betty met her future husband and love of her life, Dr. Major Mills, at Emory University. After marriage, they returned to his hometown of Ozark, Alabama to raise their family. Following retirement, they returned to Atlanta to attend Senior University at Emory and enjoyed the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents Dr. William L. Wilkinson and Julia Chason Wilkinson, her loving husband of 62 years Dr. Major Carroll Mills, and two beloved sons Joseph Chason Mills and William Major Mills. She is survived by her son James Wilkinson Mills and his wife Tammy, her two grandsons Jason Timothy Mills and his wife Kristen, and Jeremy Ryan Mills and his wife Angela, and her great granddaughter Olivia Rae Mills, all of Roswell, Georgia.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday November 25, 2015 at Oak City Cemetery in Bainbridge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to The Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
