Bainbridge cross-country has top finishes at Tift County Invitational

The Bainbridge High School Bearcat and Lady Cat cross-country teams turned in strong efforts Saturday at the 14th annual Tift County High School Blue Devil and Lady Blue Invitational Meet on the campus of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

The Bearcats finished second in a field of 13 teams and the Lady Cats finished fourth in a field of 11 teams.

The top five Bearcats runners were Poncherella Leonard, who was second overall with a time of 16:26, Bennett Enfinger, Brenden Greene, Perry Waddell and Wright Cook.

The top five Lady Cats runners were Uriyah Davis, who was third overall with a time of 21:53, Camry Fillingame, Aida Diaz, Aileen Mejia and Lani Jackson.

This Saturday the Bearcats and Lady Cats will travel to Thomas County to compete in 23rd annual Thomas County Central High School Yellow Jacket and Lady Yellow Jacket Invitational Meet at Thomas County Central Middle School.

Coach Greene said she is very pleased with the progress her teams have made this season.

“All of our Bearcat and Lady Cat runners are great competitors,” she said. “They work hard at practice and in meets and I am extremely proud of each of them.”
