William David King, 80, of Bainbridge, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Bainbridge Health Care.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at

Mr. King was born April 17, 1935 in Bainbridge, the son of James Benjamin “Ben” King and Henrietta Cloud King. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and spent the majority of his career in floor covering. Mr. King enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and dancing. He was always outspoken and loved his family.

Survivors include his children, Brenda King McNair and her husband, Mike, of Louisburg, NC, Linda King Dillard of Bainbridge, William David “Billy” King, Jr. of Seminole County, Ga.  Edwin King and his wife, Brenda, of Colquitt, Ga., and Carolyn Ann King Chason and her husband, Harvey Clifford “Bubba” Chason of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Michael-Anne McNair Johnson of Haw River, NC, Stephen Harris McNair of Harvest, Ala., Lindsay Kathryn Dillard-Harvell of Tallahassee, Fla., Sunnie Anne Chason of Atlanta, Ga. and Abbie Nicole Chason of Bainbridge; his great grandchildren, Tyler Edward Tillitt, Tristan Wayne Harvell, Lana Kay Harvell, Hagen Harris McNair, and Hastings Pauline McNair; his siblings, Benny King of Bainbridge, and Lila Bennett of Attapulgus; and his longtime companion, Jerry Grissitte of Troy, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Ruth Cumbie King; a grandson, Roger Allen King; a son-in-law, George R. Dillard (Dilly); and his brothers, Sam King and Leonard King.
