Mr. Hershell Morris Chapman, Jr., age 79, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015, in Donalsonville, Georgia.  Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Cox Funeral Home Chapel.  Pastor Scott Hamby and Mr. Carl Purvis will be officiating.  Steve Horne, Tripp Chapman, Trent Chapman, Tommy Meeks, Frankie Lavoie, and Bobby Palmer will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 1.

Hershell Chapman was born March 18, 1936, in Macon, Georgia, the son of Hershell Morris Chapman, Sr. and Mary Brake Chapman.  He graduated from Lanier High School, Macon, Georgia, Class of 1954.  Mr. Chapman was a retired salesman for Peeler Hardware Company in Macon.  He was an avid sportsman and owned Bainbridge Sporting Goods, Inc. in Bainbridge, Georgia for twenty years. He proudly served and played basketball for the United States Armed Services. Mr. Chapman was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Chapman is survived by his wife of 54 years, Louise Purvis Chapman of Donalsonville, Georgia; sons, Hershell M. Chapman, III (Tripp) and Trent M. Chapman (wife, Alice) of Donalsonville; grandchildren, Haley Chapman of Atlanta, Georgia, Hilary Chapman of Panama City, Florida, Heather Williamson (husband, Bo) of Panama City, Florida, Brian Mock (wife, Kristy) of Tallahassee, Florida; brother, Jimmy Chapman (wife, Deborah) of Macon; sister, Connie Meeks (husband, Tommy) of Macon; and brothers-in-laws, James E. Purvis (wife, Alice) of St. Marys, Georgia and Carl Purvis (wife, Jan) of Florida.
