Bainbridge Bearcats win Region Championship

Coach Amy Thomas’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats tennis team won five straight matches Monday and Tuesday in Americus to win the Region 1-AAAA tennis championship.

They opened Monday play with a 5-0 win over the Cairo High School Syrupmakers. Hema Hasona won 6-0, 6-0 at number one singles, Nour Hosona won 6-2, 6-2 at number two singles and Jones Gossett won 6-0, 6-1 at number three singles.

In doubles, Jack Reynolds and Mark Loeffler won 6-0, 6-0 at number one and Bryce Howell and Davyn Albritton won 6-0, 6-0 at number two.
On Tuesday, the Bearcats won 5-0 over the home-standing Americus-Sumter High School Panthers. In singles Hema Hasona won 6-1, 6-0 at number one, Nour Hasona won 6-2, 3-0 at number two and Jones Gossett won 6-1, 6-0 at number three.

In doubles Jack Reynolds and Mark Loeffler won 6-2, 6-1 at number one to seal the win. The Bearcats final Tuesday match was against the Cook County High School Hornets and the Bearcats won 3-0. Hema Hasona won 6-1, 6-3, Jones Gossett won 6-2, 6-0 and Jack Reynolds and Mark Loeffler won 6-3, 6-4.
