Bainbridge track hustles and sprints at Harmon Invitational

Coach Larry Cosby’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats and coach Tandria Phillips Lady  Cats turned in strong efforts Saturday at the Lowndes County High School Harmon’s Viking and Vikette Invitational Meet in Valdosta.

The Bearcats finished third and the Lady Cats finished ninth in strong 16 team fields.

Bearcat Cervantes Jackson won the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.12 and was eighth in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 42.58 and his Bearcat teammate Isaiah Brown was second in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.27 and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 42.84. Bearcat Elijah Tyler was ninth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.63, Bearcat Sawn Herring was 18th in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 11.93.

Cervantes Jackson also won the triple jump with a leap of 43 feet, 9 inches and was second in the high jump clearing the bar at six feet. Victor Bodison was third in the high clearing the bar at a fraction over six feet. Bodison was also second in the long jump with a leap of 20-feet-7-inches.

Bearcat Perry Waddell was seventh in the 3200-meter run in a time of 11:35.83 and

Bearcat Leonard Poncherella was fifth in the 400-meter run in a time of 53.12.800 meter run and third in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:06.10.

The Bearcats 4-by-200-meter relay team of Victor Bodison, Jean Jenty, Elijah Tyler and Shawn Herring was second in a time of 1:35.78 and their 4-by-400-meter relay team of Poncherella Leonard, Jarvis Freeman, Cervantes Jackson and Lorenzo Mitchell was second in a time of 3:33.68. Their 4-by-400-meter relay team of Isaiah Brown, Jeremmiah Hodge, Jaylyn Scott and Jarvis Freeman was seventh in a time of 3:43.15.

In girls competition, the Lady Cats Uriyah Davis was second in the 1600-meter run in a time of 6:17.24, and third in the 3200-meter run in a time of 13:26.51. The Lady Cats Amaia Taylor was sixth in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 53.36.
