We all have dreams- health, happiness and love. We dream of a better world- where children have good homes.

Southern Paws Animal Sanctuary has these dreams- for animals- a field of dreams! We think every kitten and puppy needs a safe, happy home.

Our dream- to help folks that can‘t care for their pets. Elderly folks going into nursing care, people shipped overseas serving our country, people passing away. They leave beloved pets behind- pets that are confused and grieving. And suddenly homeless.

We dream about a spay/ neuter program for Bainbridge. A way to stop the overpopulation of cats and dogs in our county. We need to come together as a community to solve this problem.

Our Bainbridge veterinarians- Drs. Bailey, Bryan and Hight understand this problem. They help with a low-cost spay/neuter for cats. A light at the end of the tunnel- thanks to these Doctors who donate their time and money.

Our biggest dream is to help Bainbridge understand the No Kill movement that is spreading across our country. It started in 1944, then took root at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in UTAH.

But take a look around. Jacksonville Humane Society, Miss Kitty‘s Sanctuary in Thomasville, Pets Alive in Tallahassee, SCAR in Cairo- these are already, or working to become No Kill organizations. They are all around us. They are working hard to make this dream a reality.

Now, Southern Paws Animal Sanctuary in Bainbridge!

“If you build it, they will come.”

Sadly, Southern Paws hasn‘t built it yet.

Still they come. Every day, we get phone calls about animals needing homes.

We work with foster families, but there just aren‘t enough. Southern Paws Animal Sanctuary needs a home. A place where we can care for all of our orphans under one roof. Our dream is only a few acres with a safe building. Maybe with a fenced area where our dogs could run and exercise.

We just need a place to start. A place to build our Field of Dreams.

I‘m begging- not for Southern Paws, but for all homeless animals in Decatur County. 2015 is quickly approaching. If you have a place you would consider donating, we can give you a great tax exemption. And when you lay down to sleep, you will have a Field of Dreams!
